Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has held two personal meetings with Besiktas vice-president Ahmet Nur Cebi, according to Fotomac.

The Turkish outlet report that Sturridge is on Besiktas’ list of summer targets, with the striker now holding talks over a potential move to Istanbul.

Fotomac claim that Sturridge and his manager both met Cebi, with a Turkish representative from his agent’s company quoted as saying: “If the fans want him and the right conditions occur the Sturridge could play in Turkey.”

Besiktas fans are said to have set up a ‘Come to Besiktas’ campaign to lure the 28-year-old to the Super Lig.

Good move for Liverpool?

It totally depends on Besiktas’ offer.

Sturridge has just one year left on his deal at Anfield but the club will still be looking to recoup a decent fee for the striker this summer with an exit surely on the cards.

If Besiktas manage to stump up a decent cash offer for the former England international then this would be a good move for Liverpool, who would be offloading his reported £120,000-a-week wages while also receiving a reasonable transfer fee.

Sturridge is well past it, and getting him off the books would be a win for the Reds this summer.

Likely to happen?

As mentioned, an exit for Sturridge is surely likely this summer, but whether it will be to Besiktas is unknown.

There was interest from Italy in January, and that may materialise again, and you would think it unlikely that any English team would take a punt on him after his injury problems over so many years.
