Olympiakos are seriously considering a bid for out-of-favour Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic, according to Sdna.

The Greek outlet report that the Reds have peddled Markovic to the Greek side, who are now mulling over a bid for the Serbia international forward.

Sdna claim that Olympiakos are looking keen on a deal for the 24-year-old, who has failed to make an impact on Merseyside since his £22million move from Benfica in 2014.

Good move for Liverpool?

Yes.

Markovic has been surplus to requirements at Liverpool for a long while now, and there is little point in keeping the Serbia international for another season.

That is especially true if Liverpool want to make any money back on their hefty £22million investment, with Markovic having just one year left on his deal at Anfield.

A move to Olympiakos seems to make sense for all involved, but a formal bid is yet to materialise and we will just have to wait and see if one does.

Likely to happen?

The report seems to suggest that the Greek side are seriously considering tabling a bid for Markovic, with the club being admirers of the player despite his tough spell at Liverpool.

If that is true, then a bid should eventually come in for the 24-year-old, with the ball then in Liverpool’s court.

It is not known how much the club want to recoup for Markovic this summer, but the Reds can surely not be expecting too much considering his contract situation and his form over the past few seasons.
