Both Jurgen Klopp and Robbie Fowler reportedly see a need for Liverpool to dip their toe into the transfer market to sign a new multi-functional forward but they’re wrong.

It was claimed by football news site Goal that the current Reds manager believes the club need another versatile attacker in order to be able to cope if something stops Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane from featuring.

Fowler then shared in his latest Daily Mirror column that after talking to Klopp and personally analysing the squad from his perspective, that the Reds needed more depth and referred to how Salah going off injured in the Champions League final proved his point.

“They have a great team, but there needs to be more strength in depth – more options when things go wrong, like they did when Ramos did Mo Salah,” wrote the Reds icon for the paper.

This statement by the former Reds attacker seemed to imply that he is also on board about another forward, one adept at being moved around the team, being recruited.

Fowler is no doubt happy that Goal’s original report stated that Klopp was on the hunt to find a multi-functional forward in the current transfer window and even had his eye on Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.

Yet both of them are missing the free solutions available to the eccentric German boss as there’s at least three players currently at Anfield worthy of being the versatile attacking player that the club are apparently searching for.

Divock Origi, Harry Wilson and even teenage wonderkid Rhian Brewster are all capable of being the player that Klopp and Fowler believe the side lack, all they need is an opportunity.

Origi,23, is a capable centre-forward, left-winger and right-winger with his recent loan spell at Wolfsburg proving he’s a quality player if just a little inconsistent.

Wilson may have only played two games as a centre-forward is his career, with him regularly unleashed as a multi-flanked winger, yet at the age of 21 he could possible lead the line if guided in that direction.

After all the electric 21-year-old did show his clinical side when at Hull City as he scored seven goals in his 13 league appearances for the Championship side.

Then finally there’s Brewster, who has mainly featured as a centre-forward but dabbled as a left-winger on a few occasions, that given his pace and ability is ready to be moulded into whatever player Klopp sees fit.

With Liverpool’s reported hunt aiming to sign a player to cover their three star attackers, a young option who isn’t perfect but will learn as they go can be taken.

Reds supporters would love the academy and players that the club have already invested in, see Origi, to be utilised instead of cash needlessly being splashed.

As the money saved on halting this pursuit could then being spent improving other key areas of the team.

Therefore as it stands both Fowler and Klopp are reportedly missing the obvious free solutions to the Reds’ need for another versatile forward as there’s three options fans would approve of currently at the club.
