Celtic are pursuing a loan deal for Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson before the Champions League registration deadline on Thursday, according to the Daily Mail

The newspaper report that the 21-year-old winger is expected to sign a new deal at Anfield before an immediate temporary exit, with Celtic hopeful that he will agree to head to Parkhead following an initial approach.

The Mail claim that Wilson could link up with the Hoops before Thursday, which is the deadline for the club to register players before their Champions League play-off against Armenian side Alashkert next Tuesday.

Good move for Liverpool?

Yes.

Wilson is one of the club’s best young talents, and he needs to be given an environment where he can take his development to the next level in the upcoming season.

His loan spell at Hull City was hugely successful, and moving to a club like Celtic would allow him to take another step up in competition while remaining a Liverpool player.

With former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers in charge, Wilson would likely be guaranteed minutes, which the club will want assurances over anyway.

Likely to happen?

It looks like Celtic are hopeful of a deal for Wilson, but whether they can push it through before Thursday is surely unlikely at this point.

The report does say that they can add a wildcard up to 24 hours before the match, and the Hoops may have to settle for that if they want to add Wilson to the squad.

But first, the young Wales international must decide whether he believes a move to Parkhead is the right one.

If he does so, then expect this deal to go through pretty quickly.
