Liverpool’s talks to sign attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir from Lyon are completely over, according to Le Progres.

The French newspaper reports on their website that the transfer to take the French flyer to the Reds is no more, and that other parties could make a move in light of this news.

The 25-year-old attacking ace is no longer a priority for boss Jurgen Klopp and his side, and the club have completely withdrawn their interest in signing him in this transfer window, despite the France international not having yet trained with the Ligue 1 outfit this pre-season.

Fekir scored 23 times for Lyon last season as they qualified for the Champions League.

OPINION

The transfer saga involving Liverpool and Nabil Fekir seems to have a new development all the time, but if this French report is true, then there may finally be a conclusion to this fiasco. However, it will certainly make fans question whether Fekir really wanted the move in the first place – first it’s on, then it’s off and so on. It is a struggle to keep up with what is happening with Fekir, but Liverpool are right to call off any potential deal for the attacking enforcer, as that position is not really a priority for them in this window. They have already signed the likes of Naby Keita, and they have an array of attacking talent to choose from their ranks currently. It is not worth the hassle to continue this saga with Fekir, and they have made the right decision to withdraw from the move. This news may have been music to Lyon’s ears, but they will now have to contend with other partiesĀ  getting in on the act.
