Sky Sports and Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano has posted a tweet that has delighted Liverpool fans, on the eve of a blockbuster transfer for Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

With the player reportedly heading to Liverpool for a medical after a world-record fee was agreed, Romano quoted Roma’s director of football Monchi, who said: “Alisson-Liverpool deal will be official soon”.

He added that Roma decided to sell after Liverpool placed their world-record bid.

Romano posted the tweet on his personal Twitter page on Thursday morning.

Here are the reactions from football fans to the words from Monchi:

One Arsenal fan said that Monchi had skinned Liverpool alive if the reported £67million fee is true.

He said that Liverpool were desperate and Roma took advantage.

One Liverpool fan said that they would have been charged over £50million wherever they went, and the Arsenal fan conceded that Liverpool had no choice but that it was smart business from Roma.

One Chelsea fan was seemingly upset that his side hadn’t bought Alisson, saying that the deal turns Liverpool into a top-two team. He even went as far as to say he was backing them to win the league if Klopp could work his magic.

Another fan applauded Roma’s business acumen, saying it was incredible business to buy him for £7million in 2016 and sell him for £67million.

However, a Liverpool fan pointed out that Liverpool had bought Philipp Coutinho for £8million and sold him for £142million.

After being bated by one fan, who said Liverpool didn’t know who Alisson was and that he wasn’t a good goalie and played in a bad league, one Liverpool fan had the mic-dropping finale, and accused the fan of being a bitter Chelsea supporter.
