It is only logical to offload players who do not have much of a contribution to the club, and this is no different for Liverpool.

According to reliable journalist Neil Jones on his personal Twitter account – who is a Reds’ correspondent for goal.com – the club have accepted a £3.5 million bid for their midfielder Pedro Chirivella from Norwegian outfit Rosenborg, and he is due to make the trip to finalise his move this week.

Liverpool have insisted on a buy-back option for the young central midfielder, but this precaution is not necessary – they should just offload him on a permanent basis without the option of buying him back.

They have no reason to insert a buy-back option in to the deal, as the Spaniard has never really made a major impact in his time at Anfield – and they are definitely right in binning him.

The youngster was farmed out to Eredivisie outfit Willem II, where he did not make the most successful of impacts during his stay there, netting no goals and only providing four assists in his 35 appearances for the club.

This should be reason enough to reinforce why Liverpool are better off getting rid of him, and it looks like they are one step closer to doing so thanks to Rosenborg.

He is only 21-years-old so he has not had much time to unleash his potential, but Liverpool cannot risk that type of player staying on the books seeming as they are challenging for the title.

Chirivella was not going to get many first-team opportunites on Merseyside, so a move away is the best thing he can do for his career at the moment, as regular football is what he needs to develop.

The Reds have made the right decision to bin the player, and they are not likely to mourn his loss at the club any time soon.
