Now that Liverpool look to be done on the buying side of business this summer, attention turns to those who are likely to leave Anfield before deadline day.

According to the Mirror there are eight players who are on the chopping block, with Jurgen Klopp hopeful of raising £100million in sales in the coming weeks.

Among those in danger of an exit is young striker Divock Origi, whose Reds career has tailed off dramatically after a promising start in 2015.

The Mirror claim that La Liga side Valencia are ‘very keen’ on the prospect of signing the Belgium international, with Liverpool quoting £26million as their desired price.

Now, there is no doubt that Origi remains an exciting young player with vast potential, but Liverpool are merely setting themselves up for failure by asking for such a fee.

The club paid just £10million for his services from Lille in 2014, with the youngster remaining at the French club for another season on loan after that.

Since then the 23-year-old has scored 21 goals in 77 appearances for the Reds, while also embarking on an unsuccessful spell on loan at Wolfsburg where he scored seven goals in 36 appearances.

That is not particularly bad form, but it most certainly does not warrant the Reds demanding £17million in profit for the young Belgian.

This is especially true when you consider the fact that Origi is entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and can walk away for free next summer.

Liverpool are undoubtedly shooting themselves in the foot with their valuation, and while keeping Origi around for another season would not be disastrous, they must temper their expectations if they want to offload him.
