Some Liverpool fans reacted positively on social media after the club confirmed that attacker Taiwo Awoniyi had signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The Merseyside giants confirmed via their club website on Tuesday that the 20-year-old centre-forward had penned a new deal with the club following a successful loan spell with Belgium side Royal Excel Mouscron last season.

Upon reading the news, several Reds supporters tweeted to congratulate Awoniyi on his new contract with one stating to ask whether he could play for the Reds yet as he looked like a beast of a man.

OPINION

After penning a new contract with the club Awoniyi is heading straight out the door for another loan spell which will hopefully bring him even more valuable experience. The Liverpool Echo stated that the attacker still wasn’t eligible to make his first appearance for the Reds’ senior side due to work permit issues which means the club need to find him a temporary club so his promising progress doesn’t stop. While it’s no doubt frustrating for the club and the player that work permit issues have to constantly see him secure temporary moves, by signing a new contract it does imply that the Reds think this will soon be sorted. Hopefully Awoniyi gets to be play for the Reds in the near future as his promising reputation is starting to become well-known.
