Aston Villa have entered the race to sign young Liverpool forward Sheyi Ojo, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon, who is a football correspondent for The Sun, reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday that Steve Bruce’s side had joined the hunt for the 21-year-old.
It is said that there are several other clubs interested in the speedster, with teams such as Middesbrough and West Bromwich Albion previously linked with a move.
OPINION
It seems as though Ojo is attracting the attention of all of the top teams in the Championship this season, and a loan move down a division looks extremely likely to happen before Thursday’s deadline. Liverpool were in fact thought to be considering a permanent exit for the winger, but their reported demands of £10million or more mean that such a deal is highly unlikely. That is probably for the best, with Liverpool able to keep hold of Ojo and monitor his development over a full season in the Championship before making a more long-term decision on his future. A lacklustre loan spell at Fulham last season did not seem to help his cause, but Ojo is still attracting multiple suitors this summer, and Villa look like they could be a good option for him. The club are likely to be challenging for promotion again despite their financial difficulties, and that will be a good experience for Ojo if he does end up in the Midlands.
