Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has singled out Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell for praise ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday, describing the 21-year-old as a “massive player.”

The Reds head into the match at the King Power looking for their fourth consecutive win to start the season after victories over West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brighton so far.

Klopp has now claimed that Leicester pose a different challenge to his side, highlighting their midfield and defence while admitting that he has been blown away by Chilwell in particular.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference on Friday, as quoted by Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle on Twitter, Klopp said: “I am fine with what I’ve seen so far but Leicester will be different. The midfield is really strong. Looks good, defensively line played together for a while. Chilwell massive player for them. Great future, looks big talent, is a good player.”

OPINION

This is big praise for Chilwell from Klopp, who is obviously a big admirer of the 21-year-old flyer. Chilwell has certainly impressed for the Foxes ever since breaking into the side in the 2016/17 season, and he really does look like one to watch in the near future. It has also been a particularly strong start to the season for the youngster, who could develop into a real star for Claude Puel’s side in the coming campaign. It would not be a surprise to see Chilwell earn a shot with England soon enough should he continue this kind of form, while a move to a bigger club could also be on the horizon if that happens. First though is the visit of Liverpool, which is a big game for Leicester after they recovered well from their opening day defeat to Manchester United. The Reds are a dangerous prospect in attack, and Chilwell will have his plate full with Mohamed Salah and co. in full flow.
