Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has slammed goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for his public criticism of the club over the summer window, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react to his comments.
The Belgium international has publicly questioned the club on several occasions over the summer, most recently saying to HLN that the decision to allow Loris Karius to leave on loan was “bizarre.”
Klopp has now revealed that Mignolet will not be leaving the club before Friday’s European deadline and called out the 30-year-old mainstay for his public criticism, as quoted by Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle on Twitter.
Klopp: If he was happy to be a number 2, I wouldn't know him. Of course he's not happy, pretty good pay though.

Is right. If Mignolet wasn't so money hungry, he might have taken a pay-cut and moved somewhere where he would be a starter.

Is it me or has Klopp changed a bit? The squad depth has no doubt made things easier for him to rotate but he's also challenging the squad to be hungry for a starting birth in the side. Also never seen him talk about a player the way he did about Mignolet.

OPINION
While there is clearly no huge problem between Klopp and Mignolet, the Reds boss did not hold back in his criticism of the Belgian stopper, and these fans seem to be in agreement with his comments. Mignolet did certainly have chances to leave the club this summer, including a potential move to Premier League rivals Fulham, but no move was ever agreed. That suggests that his wage demands were too high, and therefore the failed exit comes down to him, and him alone. That being said, there is some scope for sympathy for Mignolet, who was expected to be allowed to leave after becoming third choice following the arrival of Alisson. He will now have to make do with a bench role until January at the very least, and at this stage in his career that is not ideal. One thing that is now for certain is that this situation is now resolved after Klopp’s comments, and both men will have to move on with the season in full flow.
