Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned an exit for first-team centre-back Ragnar Klavan amid interest from Fenerbahce, according to Fanatik

The Turkish newspaper report that former director of football Damien Comolli, who now works for the Turkish Super Lig club, is preparing a loan bid for the Estonia international.

Another report from Turkey in Fotomac claims that Comolli has already been in telephone talks with the Reds over an agreement for the 32-year-old centre-back.

OPINION

As with most reports from the Turkish press, these two claims should be taken with a huge pinch of salt. Klavan was linked with a deadline day move to Newcastle, a switch that did not happen after Klopp reportedly blocked an exit for the big Estonian. This would hardly suggest that he is ready to allow Klavan to leave, and therefore a loan move to Fenerbahce is extremely unlikely to happen. Klopp will be keen to retain as much depth at the back as possible amid some ongoing injury problems for several players, including Klavan, and this looks like a no-go. Comolli will obviously be hoping to exploit his old contacts at Liverpool from his time at the club, but the transfer mastermind will undoubtedly be met with a firm ‘no’ from Reds bosses. Regardless, Comolli is not exactly held in high regard at Anfield after his failures in the transfer market, and that adds to the impression that he will not be successful with this move.
