It is no secret that Liverpool’s midfield is one of the best in the league, but one of the prime reasons behind the success is down to first team figure James Milner.

Milner has been excellent for the Reds in the last three matches, and it would not be a surprise to many to see him as the first name on Jurgen Klopp’s team sheet every week.

He is one of the most consistent yet underrated players in the Liverpool squad, but his latest comments are sure to leave Klopp in a bit of a sweat in such an important season.

The 32-year-old told The Herald that he would never rule out a move to Scotland in the future, saying: “I would never say never. You never know what is going to happen.”

The first teamer is paramount to the Reds’ cause over the next few seasons, and the fact that he has admitted that he would never rule out a move is not going to please the fans either.

He has established himself as a firm fan favourite at Anfield since his arrival from Manchester City, and is arguably one of the most assured midfielders currently on the books at Anfield.

However, after these comments, Klopp will want to ensure that Milner remains at the club for as long as he can, and that would mean keeping the veteran happy this season.

Handing the enforcer a start every week would not be tough ask though, as his form alone has merited him a regular spot in the team.

Nevertheless, Klopp would never want to hear these types of comments from any of his star players – after all, Milner is an integral part of his plans.

Milner’s remarks might leave the German coach sweating in the future, but Klopp can rest easy knowing he has the former England international to call upon for now.
