Jurgen Klopp has undoubtedly doing an excellent job as Liverpool boss, and that is clear to see after he splashed the cash on some exceptional talents this summer.

He has obviously established himself as a fan favourite ever since he took up the helm, but there is one element of his game that is letting him down.

The German sometimes has the urge to make outlandish comments, and is often viewed as a wind-up merchant by the Reds’ faithful with some of the things he comes out with – and this needs to stop.

He obviously has not changed, as the Mirror have quoted him as saying: “If a team is better than yours, then you have to work out how to be at their level and how to beat them.

“I have never wanted to have the best team. I have never wanted to be the best player or the best manager. What interests me is to beat the best.”

In response to these outlandish comments, broadcaster Richard Keys took to Twitter to mock Liverpool’s title hopes this season, asking “does this mark the end of the title challenge?”

This reaction is evidence enough that a manager of his experience and calibre should not be making comments like these, especially now the Reds are in the best position they have ever been in to snatch the title from Manchester City’s grasp.

It appears that he likes the attention more than anything else, but he will not be taken seriously if he continues in this way.

He knows what a defining season in Liverpool’s history this could be, and he is somewhat tarnishing that in order to prompt a reaction from his comments.

Beating a team like City would obviously be a nice feeling, but Klopp is forgetting what his side could potentially achieve come next summer.

He needs to stop making such irrelevant comments and focus on the job that is in front of him.
