Virgil Van Dijk is worth every penny we paid. Best defender in the league, bar none.

What a stunning performance from Van Dijk. Absolute rock in defence. So good to have a defensive pairing who can play the ball and match most attackers for speed. Gomez with another glowing performance.

Van Dijk should be Liverpool captain on permanent basis by now. Hendo can't even be guarantee of first eleven

I think yesterday we saw why Klopp wasn't willing to compromise on his top transfer targets. Alisson's distribution was excellent among other things, Van Dijk was colossal and Keita showed every facet of his game.
Brighton up next; another three points is a must. #LFC

Used to love Sami Hyypia but Virgil Van Dijk is on a different level. With total confidence in Alisson behind, our defence will be a different animal this season.

That might be Virgil van Dijk's best performance in a Liverpool shirt. No real highlight moment but there was so much to that display — aerial presence, mopping up everything and helping youngsters Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold through a difficult game.

Van Dijk was absolutely majestic tonight. He was up for the fight, won everything, he was ice cool & his distribution was exemplary. His leadership skills are there for all to see.
Alisson was excellent too. His distribution is brilliant and he bossed his box.Onwards & upwards

OPINION
These Liverpool fans are quite clearly enamoured with van Dijk after another exemplary display from the Netherlands international, and it is easy to see why. It was such a brilliant all-round display from the enforcer, who marshalled the Reds defence with authority and poise. If van Dijk and Joe Gomez stay fit then Liverpool have a brilliant centre-back partnership there that could develop into something special in the next few years. What is now absolutely clear is that Liverpool did not overspend in shelling out £75million for van Dijk in January, with the centre-back looking to be worth every penny. The addition of Alisson in goal this summer should really help the Reds transform their defence into a force to be reckoned with, and should put them closer to that goal of winning a trophy this season. It has certainly been a promising start to the season for Jurgen Klopp and his team, and they will be looking to carry that into their clash with Brighton on Saturday.
