Liverpool crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday after a 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Anfield, but many fans have taken to Twitter to rave about the display of Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Reds had taken the lead through a brilliant Daniel Sturridge goal but Chelsea hit back on 79 minutes when left-back Emerson netted before Eden Hazard stole the show with a breathtaking winner to put Jurgen Klopp’s side out of the competition.
Many Liverpool fans have however reacted positively to Shaqiri’s performance on Twitter, with many praising the Switzerland international for a lively display.

Shaqiri is a huge asset. Keita top quality as always. Vvd-Gomez is the partnership going forward. That back five won't play on Saturday. We are good for the weekend

Gotta give it Shaqiri tonight tho, real talent. Looks special picking up the ball in the middle of the pitch and can beat defenders on the turn whenever he wants on a good day.Hope he continues to put in the effort to become a major part of our squad, coz he’s defo got the ability

Positives:
Sturridge fit & scoring goals again
Shaqiri is a total player. Did plenty of defensive work to silence doubters + his forward play is exciting
Fabinho's debut
Two less midweek games in January allow more rest after hectic Xmas/New Year fixtures

OPINION
These Liverpool fans seem impressed with Shaqiri’s performance despite their loss to Chelsea, and it is easy to see why. The Switzerland international put in another solid display for the Reds after his promising 45 minutes against Southampton at the weekend. The versatile forward is already proving to be a shrewd signing for Liverpool, who spent just £13.5million to sign him from Stoke City over the summer. He adds another dimension to Liverpool’s already dangerous attack, and also adds some much-needed depth as well. One incident that seems to have taken the headlines regarding the 26-year-old however is Klopp’s argument with him at the final whistle. The manager explained after the match that he was angry that Shaqiri had not taken their free-kick at the end of the game, instead allowing Jordan Henderson to step up. That seemed to sour Liverpool’s night a bit, but there is nothing to suggest there is any issue there at all.
