Liverpool are not interested in making a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper reports on their website that boss Jurgen Klopp is happy with his current crop of midfield options after bringing in the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita in the summer.

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the 6ft 3in [Transfermarkt] giant with an ESPN report even claiming that the club had been in contact with Rabiot’s agent and mother, and even implied that Klopp has spoken personally to the Frenchman on the phone regarding leaving the Ligue 1 and Champions League side.

The Reds are said to be puzzled by such claims, and they say that they have not spoken to Rabiot to negotiate a transfer.

OPINION

It comes as no surprise that Liverpool have ruled out a move for PSG’s Adrien Rabiot, especially as the likes of Keita and Fabinho have come in. Keita has taken the Premier League by storm in his first four matches for the club, and has undoubtedly cemented his place in the starting line-up with his impressive performances recently. This means that it would absolutely pointless to make a move for Rabiot, who would have faced stern competition for a midfield place in the first team. He would have even faced a long time on the bench, so it would have been a waste of time bringing him to Anfield. There is no doubting that he is a good player, but at the moment, the Reds just do not need his services. Fabinho will surely be making an appearance in the Premier League soon alongside Keita, where they will surely form a fantastic partnership.
