Many Liverpool fans on social media destroyed Alberto Moreno for his performance during the 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
The left-back played the whole game as the Reds slumped to a narrow defeat courtesy of the Blues on Wednesday but lots of supporters of Jurgen Klopp’s side were not happy with his performance.
One fan tweeted that Moreno was absolutely awful as he had no positional sense what so ever, while another claimed they would rather a left-back from the academy played as the Spaniard was a defensive liability.

OPINION
The days of Moreno being torn apart by Liverpool fans on Twitter was well and truly back on Wednesday night as they couldn’t believe their eyes. The 26-year-old left-back was handed a rare chance to stake a his claim for a place in the first-team and made more of case for why his contract should be ripped up. Nothing went right for Moreno throughout the game as his passing was woeful, Chelsea winger Victor Moses made him look clueless and he just looked lost. As several fans referred to, Moreno’s form was always a rollercoaster ride as it dipped from diabolically bad to actually passable. However as one supporter tweeted the sweaty palms that the defender’s unpredictability brings is not a pleasant experience and he shouldn’t be near the first-team. If Moreno is to feature in another game for the Reds this season, which is likely as Klopp needs to use all his squad to compete in several competitions, then he needs to up his game.
