Liverpool are in pole position to sign Dinamo Zagreb star Dani Olmo with the forward keen on a move to Anfield, according to Calciomercato

The Italian outlet report that AC Milan are also in the hunt for the 20-year-old Spaniard, who can play anywhere across the forward line.

Calciomercato claim that Zagreb value Olmo at £8.9million, a figure which Milan would be more than willing to spend, but the Reds are the preferred destination for the versatile attacker.

OPINION

This would be an interesting move for Liverpool, with Olmo not a big name at all in the European game. That being said, he is obviously a very talented youngster, and the Reds would do well to snap him up. He contributes heavily in goals and assists for Zagreb, and looks like he could earn a move to a bigger side in the near future. The interest coming from both the Reds and AC Milan suggest that he is attracting some of the continent’s best teams, and that is always a good sign. An £8.9million outlay would not be a problem at all for the Reds either, who have become accustomed to paying huge fees to sign players recently. You would think that if Olmo does end up at Anfield then he would head into the Liverpool development side first before graduating to the senior set up at a later date.
