Liverpool attacker Daniel Sturridge shared exactly what he told Chelsea coach Gianfranco Zola after scoring during the Reds’ 1-1 draw with the Blues on Saturday.

The 28-year-old forward came off the bench during the Reds’ clash with Blues at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and scored a spectacular goal to earn a point for his side.

Following the game Sturridge was asked what Zola was saying to him following the full-time whistle and Sturridge revealed that he was cheekingly telling the Blues legend that he had been watching videos of him in order to score goals like the one he grabbed on Saturday.

“I was just telling him I’m watching his videos so that’s how I’m learning from the goal the other night and today,” admitted the Reds attacker in an interview with BT Sport, that can be watched via their Twitter account.

“That’s what I told him, he’s a great player, legend of the game and I really have watched his videos so y’know it’s great to have a chat with a guy like him.”

OPINION

Sturridge was no doubt buzzing after not only scoring a wonderful goal for the Reds in order to rescue a point but due to the fact he did against one of his former sides. The 28-year-old is well and truly back in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans this season even if he won’t be starting many games. Sturridge has proven that he can be a fantastic player to use from the bench as he is lively in and around the box. The forward may have a dodgy injury record but he looks like a player worth keeping at Anfield for the foreseeable future so hopefully a new contract is on the horizon for him. Sturridge’s current deal is set to expire in the summer and he keeps proving himself to be worthwhile member of the Reds’ squad then it will be a shame if he walked out of the doors of Anfield for free. The 28-year-old seems to be loving life at the Reds currently even though he is  not guaranteed playing time so there should be no issues in getting him to pen a new contract in the near future.
