Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the club are still assessing the fitness of star player Virgil van Dijk ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea tomorrow, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, as quoted by Echo journalist James Pearce on Twitter, Klopp said: “We have to wait, he didn’t train with the team so far.”

Many Liverpool fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the news, with many worried sick over the continued absence of their key star, who suffered the rib injury against Southampton at the weekend.

OPINION

These Liverpool fans seem pretty worried about the prospect of missing van Dijk once again as they prepare to face Chelsea for the second time in just a few days, and so they should be. The 27-year-old Netherlands international is head and shoulders above most centre-backs in the Premier League, and has single-handedly transformed the Liverpool defence in recent months. Not only is he a brilliant player himself, it always seems as though the other Liverpool defenders play much better when he is on the pitch. If he is missing against Chelsea on Saturday, which in all honesty is looking highly likely, then it will be down to Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to perform at centre-back for the Reds. Both players are in good form, but against a dangerous Chelsea attack it might be another testing day for them. This is an important match for Liverpool as they look to bounce back from their first loss of the season and maintain their 100% record in the league.
