Borussia Dortmund are in the hunt to sign Liverpool attacker Bobby Duncan, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper report that the German giants have been watching the Reds’ 17-year-old forward and have identified him, along with Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Manchester City’s Phil Foden, as one of the English wonderkids they want to take to the Bundesliga next.

The Mirror report that Duncan joined the Reds in the summer after the club agreed a compensation package with Manchester City in order to get his services and that he is regarded as one of the most exciting teenage strikers in the game.

OPINION

It seems Borussia Dortmund are looking to catch any Premier League starlet falling through the net at their respective club, so it’s no surprise that they’re being linked to such high-profile youth talent. However it seems unlikely that they have any chance of successfully getting Duncan to joined them anytime soon. The 17-year-old, who is notably the cousin of Steven Gerrard, has basically only just rocked up at Anfield and is a boyhood Liverpool fan. Given both these facts then it seems unlikely that he is going to jump at joining the first European giant who are keen on him. Also Duncan has seem to have settled into Reds’ youth set-up very well and why would he make another move that could potentially unsettle him so soon? The forward has scored six goals in his seven appearances for the Reds’ U-18s side since joining, and looks to have a bright future at Anfield if he continues to develop like he is expected to.
