Champions League outfit Galatasaray are considering making a move for Liverpool outcast Divock Origi in January, according to Turkish Football.

The outlet claims that Fatih Terim’s side are interested in a loan deal for the out of favour Belgium international, who is on a reported £28,000-per-week at Anfield [Source: Spotrac].

The Turkish giants are looking for a frontman to replace Bafetimbi Gomis, who enjoyed a prolific season in Istanbul last year before departing for Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal this summer.

Origi was heavily linked with a move away from Merseyside in the off season but no transfer materialised and he has struggled with injury and lack of game time for the club this term.

OPINION

This news is unlikely to upset many Liverpool fans. For one reason or another Origi simply hasn’t been able to make a success of his time in England and he’s rarely been able to put together a consistent run of form. His loan spells away from the club have been less than spectacular, too, making shifting him this summer a difficult task for the Reds. Galatasaray aren’t offering to take him off Liverpool’s hands permanently, of course, but a loan move could see the player rediscover his scoring touch in Turkey. If he enjoys a good season with Terim’s team then he could earn himself a permanent move away from Anfield, either to Galatasaray or somewhere else. It’s hard to see him coming back from the adversity he has experienced at Liverpool and his days at the club appear to be numbered. This would be a good move to a top team, and Origi should grasp the opportunity with both hands.
