Famous Musician Noel Gallagher took a dig at Liverpool fans while delivering his verdict on them facing Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield.

The 51-year-old, best known for his work with Oasis, is a well-known supporter of Man City and weighed in on what he was expecting to see when his side clashed with the Reds.

Gallagher claimed he couldn’t predict the outcome of Sunday’s showdown but appeared to take a dig at Reds supporters when he claimed they tended to implode after losing games of that nature.

“You can’t call it – if both teams play well it’s a 50/50 game,” said Gallagher on talkSPORT on Friday morning, as quoted by the radio station’s website.

“If we come out of these and we’re still top of the league, I’d take that.

“The thing about this game is, City can go there and get embarrassed – like we have been a couple of times – and still go on a run and win the next eight or nine games.

“But if we beat Liverpool at Anfield, they won’t recover from that.

“Their fans implode after defeats like that.

“Pep will probably get arrested by the Merseyside Police for upsetting a few Scousers.

“I’ve upset a few lately, but it’s kind of my job – I’ve got a few in my band so it’s kind of what I do!”

OPINION

Man City fans probably love their celebrity supporter taking a cheeky dig at Liverpool fans ahead of the clash but their happiness may not survive Sunday’s game. The Reds have all the necessary tools to defeat Man City on Sunday and could make a real statement by doing so. However as Gallagher rightly said, it is  hard to call as both sides will be desperate to win despite it being early in the season. Whoever wins the clash between the Reds and Man City will be laying down the gauntlet in the race for the Premier League title as these two clubs appear to be the favourites to win that honour so far. While Chelsea are clearly one to watch in the title race so far this season, many are viewing it as a two-horse race between Man City and the Reds. After the disappointing result and performance against Napoli in mid-week then Klopp will be hoping his team respond in the best manor by achieving a notable win over their Premier League rivals on Sunday.
