It is not very often that this is said, but Liverpool really need some reinforcements in the attacking department.

Rewind to this time last year and masses of Liverpool fans would have been scratching their heads at such a statement – but this season is different.

Mo Salah has hardly been firing on all cylinders recently, and it is safe to say that the Reds’ attacking midfielders have been virtually non-existent.

However, their luck may be about to change, as Turkish-Football have reported that Liverpool are in contact with the representatives of Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay.

Granted, this would be an interesting move by Liverpool – but it is a risk that could end up paying off in the long-term.

Having an extra attacking midfielder to add to their ranks would be a blessing in disguise, especially as Adam Lallana is known to have a lot of bad luck.

The 25-year-old ace has only just regained his place in Hoffenheim’s first team after recovering from injury, so he has not been at his best – but that could all change if the made the move to Liverpool.

The Reds need a creative player in the midfield, and Demirbay may just be the answer to all of their problems.

Liverpool need to get Salah firing again, and the only way to do that is by signing a player who is capable of providing sufficient support and service.

Yes, he has not demonstrated those capabilities so far, but they will come with confidence.

Jurgen Klopp is already aware of the quality of Demirbay during his spell at Borussia Dortmund, so there is no doubting that Klopp knows him well enough to ensure that he can settle into life at Anfield rather quickly.

Acquring his services would be a masterstroke by Klopp – and fans will undoubtedly have their fingers crossed that Liverpool sign Demirbay to aid Salah’s woes in front of goal.
