Liverpool are in the race to sign Cavalier SC winger Alex Marshall, according to TEAMtalk.

The football outlet state that the Reds are one of many English teams to be chasing the services of the 20-year-old who has been dubbed the new Raheem Sterling.

TEAMtalk claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side have watched Marshall in recent months ahead of making a move and Tottenham, Leicester, West Ham as well as Aston Villa have done the same.

TEAMtalk’s report explains that Marshall has been dubbed the new Sterling due to having a similar playing style and because he was born in Kingston, Jamaica just like the Manchester City winger.

OPINION

There certainly seems to be a lot of high-profile clubs chasing Marshall but it’s hard to know if he is worth their efforts. The 20-year-old is currently playing his football for Cavalier in Jamaica’s top-flight and it’s questionable whether he is worth a Premier League team swooping him for that reason. Marshall has never played his football outside of Jamaica so it’s hard to deceiver whether he is good enough to feature in a top English club’s academy. However given the packed race for his services then the winger must have something about him to standout, especially if he is getting compared to Sterling who is excelling at Man City currently. While the Reds waved goodbye to Sterling in a somewhat disappointing way, if they could find a younger model of the Man City winger then perhaps it will put to bed the idea that the club shouldn’t have let the England international slip through their fingers.
