England secured their best result since the World Cup with a 3-2 UEFA Nations League win over Spain in Seville on Monday night, and many Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to drool over the display of centre-back Joe Gomez.
Raheem Sterling opened the scoring with his first England goal in three years before Marcus Rashford doubled the lead and Sterling added another in a brilliant first-half display, with Spain unable to claw back the deficit in the second period.
Gomez started the game at centre-back alongside Leicester City ace Harry Maguire, and many Reds fans have been going wild about the 6ft 2in ace’s performance for the Three Lions [Transfermarkt].

Joe Gomez has everything for a centre half pace aggression good in the air calm on the ball, only questions around him were his positional sense and he has answered that emphatically this season

OPINION
These Liverpool fans seem extremely impressed and happy with Gomez’s display for England on Monday, and so they should be. The 21-year-old was in imperious form against a dangerous Spain attack, and despite conceding two goals in the second half, looked virtually untroubled all game. This was merely a continuation of Gomez’s form for the Reds this season, with the youngster impressing hugely alongside senior partner Virgil van Dijk. The duo are developing into a seriously good centre-back pairing, and could well go on to be Liverpool stalwarts for the next several seasons. This is a far cry from Liverpool’s defensive problems of the recent past, with the club previously being held back by their inability to defend. Van Dijk’s arrival changed that, and now Gomez is proving he is the man to partner the Dutchman for years to come. Gomez will also have put himself in contention to start regularly for England with this display, with the youngster previously overlooked for more experienced teammates.
