Liverpool will be looking to get their Champions League campaign back on track against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night after suffering defeat away at Napoli last time out.

Lorenzo Insigne’s late strike saw the Reds beaten in Naples earlier this month, and Jurgen Klopp will be determined for his side to get back on the horse against the Serbian giants.

To do so, the manager will have to select a team capable of doing the job at Anfield, a task made more difficult by Naby Keita and Sadio Mane’s recent injuries, reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The German will likely make just two changes from the team that secured a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday, and Alisson will surely retain his place in between the sticks.

Klopp has a tough decision to make in front of the Brazilian, though. The Reds boss has controversially brought Dejan Lovren back into the team in recent weeks, with Trent Alexander-Arnold dropping out. Klopp will likely continue to employ that policy against Red Star.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has a real affinity with Lovren, demonstrated by his willingness to break up Joe Gomez’s flourishing partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence. Gomez will therefore probably continue at right back on Wednesday, while van Dijk and Andrew Robertson are surely untouchables in their positions.

The midfield trio looks set to be the tried and tested partnership of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman missed out against the Terriers, but was likely being rested with this game in mind.

Adam Lallana started as part of the front three against Huddersfield, but Xherdan Shaqiri can expect to be moved into the Englishman’s position against Red Star. Roberto Firmino, like Wijnaldum, was rested against David Wagner’s side, but he will surely replace Daniel Sturridge, on a reported £120,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], on Wednesday night as the England man is likely to be axed.
