Many Liverpool supporters on social media responded to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s update on Sergio Aguero to accuse him of playing mind games.

The Man City boss recently commented on the 5ft 6in tall forward (Source: Transfermarkt) in order to share that the player was struggling with a foot injury and that wasn’t 100%.

“Sergio is struggling a bit with some problems in his foot,” said Guardiola as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“He’s not 100 per cent, he’s not recovered from what happened against Newcastle. We spoke about playing 55-60 minutes and we were lucky that he scored a goal in the right moment.”

The Reds are set to play their Premier League title rivals at Anfield on Sunday and supporters of Jurgen Klopp’s side were left unconvinced that Aguero was actually struggling with an injury.

One Reds fan tweeted that the 30-year-old would definitely feature for Man City at the weekend while another urged Guardiola to simply behave.

OPINION

It seems that Guardiola isn’t seen as a trusted source of information among a number of Reds supporters. It seems fans of the Merseyside club are fully expecting to see Aguero line up for their rivals at Anfield on Sunday and don’t buy into the fact he isn’t 100% fit at the moment. While you would hope that a manager never lies about a player’s struggles, this sort of thing could be seen as mind games. Whether Aguero has an issue remains to be seen but Klopp must prepare his side to face the prolific forward no matter what. Aguero has scored five goals in seven league appearances far this season and will no doubt be eager to get a goal against one of his side’s biggest title rivals. While one Reds fan pessimistically is predicting the forward to grab a brace on Sunday, it’s worth noting that the Reds’ defence has been in red-hot form this season.
