Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has delivered his prediction for Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The game at the Parc de Princes is a massive one, with the Reds currently sitting a point ahead of the French giants in second place in group C. However, Nicholas foresees bad things, predicting a 3-2 win for the hosts.

“I expect Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to be back and PSG know they have to go for it, so I expect a great game of football and loads of goals,” he wrote on the Sky Sports website.

“But, purely because they’re at home and they’ve got these superstars knowing they have to make an impact, I’m going for the French side to just win this in a really entertaining game.”

OPINION

It’s interesting to see Nicholas plump for the same score as the reverse fixture, this time in PSG’s favour though. These two teams are so evenly matched that the encounter could really go either way. Liverpool laid an egg against Red Star Belgrade last time out and will know that they need to get something from this game. PSG are in desperation mode in terms of their Champions League campaign, however, and they will be going for it in front of their home fans. Obviously the outcome of this clash varies wildly if Neymar and Mbappe aren’t fit to play. If that duo do start, though, it will be an extremely difficult day at the office for the Reds. Both those players are among the finest footballers on the planet and they’ll be incredibly difficult to stop. The reverse fixture was a phenomenal affair and the neutrals will be expecting more of the same on Wednesday. 3-2 sounds about right, but any scoreline could occur when these two teams are on the pitch.
