Liverpool make the short hop over to the Parc des Princes to take on Paris Saint-Germain in an all-important Champions League clash on Wednesday, and Jurgen Klopp must make just one changes to his starting XI.

The Reds are coming into this one on the back of a 3-0 win over Watford at the weekend, while they were also victorious in the reverse fixture at Anfield, emerging 3-2 winners.

Klopp’s men need to win or draw this one to keep their Champions League hopes in their own hands, with a loss likely to mean a win is needed against Napoli in their final fixture.

In goal, Alisson must start as normal.

In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson must keep their spots at right and left-back respectively, while Virgil van Dijk is retained in the middle. Joe Gomez is likely to return from injury for this one, meaning he must come in for the 6ft 2in Dejan Lovren [Transfermarkt] to revive his thriving partnership with van Dijk. This is a harsh axe considering Lovren’s display v Watford, but Gomez is simply the better option at the moment.

A switch in formation from 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 must be made by Klopp to give the Reds an extra man in midfield to counter a talented PSG side.

That could mean an extra change is on the cards, but Klopp must resist that to hand £90,000-a-week star Xherdan Shaqiri [Spotrac] a new role in a deeper position in midfield, rather than placing him on the wing.

Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum must keep their spots alongside the Switzerland international.

An attacking trident of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino is pretty self-explanatory.

PSG will be a dangerous prospect but this is a Liverpool XI which has enough to stun the Ligue 1 giants with a big win and maintain their chances of progress to the knockout stages.
