Turkish giants Galatasaray are interested in making a move for Liverpool attacker Dominic Solanke, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian publication claims that Fatih Terim’s side are looking at both Solanke and fellow Reds misfit Divock Origi.

Solanke, once thought of as a bright hope for English football, has experienced a startling decline at Anfield this season.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a first team appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side this campaign, but did impress for England’s U-21’s over the international break.

OPINION

Some sort of move away is certainly needed for Solanke, whose progress has stalled on Merseyside this term. He remains a tremendously talented young striker, you only need to look at the audacious back heel he scored for England’s U-21’s recently to see that, but he needs first team football fast if he is going to take the next step in his development. At the moment he appears to be a long way off securing that at Liverpool and so a loan move away from the club is now required. Whether Galatasaray are the right club for him remains to be seen, however. He would be entering a highly pressurised environment at a club that is competing for their domestic title and has some of the most passionate supporters in world football. It’s doubtful that he would be afforded much time to make the transition to Turkish football. He has experience of playing abroad before with Vitesse Arnhem, but Galatasaray are a much bigger club and it could be difficult for him. Perhaps a move closer to home would be better for him.
