Liverpool hold no interest in securing a return to Anfield for AC Milan attacking midfielder Suso, according to Calciomercato

The Italian football outlet report that the Reds made an approach to re-sign the 25-year-old Spain international last summer, but no concrete bid materialised.

Calciomercato claim that Liverpool are however no longer interested in a return for Suso, with Jurgen Klopp having other plans for his attacking force.

It is said that the assist king currently has a release clause of around £34million at Milan.

OPINION

It is not really too much of a surprise that Liverpool are not chasing a return for Suso. There is no doubting that the 25-year-old has really blossomed into a quality player since his exit from Anfield, with Suso having scored five goals and laid on eight assists in 15 games this season for Milan, with the playmaker also having an impressive campaign in 2017/18. That being said, a return to Anfield still represents a risk for Liverpool. Suso may be flourishing in Serie A but the Premier League is a different proposition altogether, and there is no guarantee that his form would translate across. Liverpool have been in the market for an attacking midfielder in recent windows, with the Reds coming close to signing Nabil Fekir in the summer, but the capture of Xherdan Shaqiri has likely tempered those ambitions. A return for Suso would make sense in some ways but it is understandable that the club are not chasing such a move.
