Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno is to be offered to La Liga club Sevilla in January, according to Marca.

The Spanish outlet reports on its website that the Reds are willing to sell the £40,000-a-week [Spotrac] player in order to recoup some of the money that they paid for him in 2014.

The report goes on to say that the Spaniard “dreams” of returning to Sevilla – the club where he was bought from, and currently third in La Liga – and it looks like he will be returning in January instead of next summer, where he would have been available on a free transfer.

OPINION

Moreno is not a regular first teamer for Liverpool, so it is not a surprise to see that they have offered to sell him back to his former club. Ever since he got injured, Andrew Robertson has taken his place excellently, and it does not look like he will be ousted from the role any time soon, bar any injury. This makes it virtually pointless for Klopp to keep him at the club any longer, so it is good that they are willing to cut their losses and recoup some of the money that they spent on him. This is wise – as letting him leave in the summer would mean letting him depart for nothing. The Reds no doubt want to avoid this type of situation, and it seems like Moreno is more than happy to make a return to Spain if this report is anything to go by.
