Michael Owen has predicted Liverpool and Paris St Germain to draw 2-2 when the two European giants clash in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The former Reds player shared that he thought Jurgen Klopp’s side faced a tough trip to Paris to face PSG and added that he thought both sides were full of goals.

Owen shared that he thought the clash would be a cracking affair as neither side can afford to lose before backing the pair not to be separated in a 2-2 draw.

“Group C is by far the closest and most fascinating in this season’s competition with the quartet still all battling it out for progression,” wrote Owen in his predictions for BetVictor.

“Despite a shock 2-0 reverse in Belgrade, Liverpool still occupy top spot if only on goal difference.

“However they face a tough trip to Paris followed by what promises to be a vital last game at home to Napoli.

“The Reds were 3-2 winners over PSG earlier in the campaign and have a slight one point advantage over their opponents who find themselves in third position following back to back draws with Napoli.

“With both sides full of goals this looks likely to be a cracking affair but one neither can afford to lose. I’ll take a 2-2 score line and sit back and watch the drama unfold.”

OPINION

Owen clearly is settling in for a good game between the Reds and PSG as his prediction suggests he is anticipating drama when the two sides face-off. When you consider that the pair’s last clash ended 3-2 in the Reds favour, just about, it’s hard to think that Wednesday match isn’t going to deliver the goods. However it will only be an enjoyable experience for Reds fans if they achieve a positive result. Liverpool’s Champions League group is very tough this season and could go any way as it stands. The Reds surprisingly lost to Red Star Belgrade this season and will not want to drop the ball against PSG and potentially make it difficult for themselves to qualify. As Owen points out the Reds are currently top of their group so there’s no need to man the panic stations just yet, but that feeling could all change depending on Wednesday’s result.
