Micky Quinn effectively urged Liverpool attacker Dominic Solanke to seek a temporary exit from the club after struggling for game time.

The talkSPORT pundit and supporter of the Reds shared that he thought the 21-year-old forward had looked very nervous anytime he had featured for the club and faced a struggle to get minutes on the pitch.

Quinn added that if he was Solanke then he’d be looking for a way out, he directly suggested a loan move, as there’s nothing worst for a striker when you can’t get games.

“He has looked very nervous when he has stepped into the first team or I think he played a few League Cup games last year and came on as a substitute, then funny enough he got a goal towards back end of last season, a nice goal, where it went in off the crossbar,” said Quinn on talkSPORT (Friday November 24, 14:53).

“So I thought go on then, have a few more minutes of play and he just hasn’t had it and there’s nothing worst if you’re a striker, y’know you’re in and out the team and nothing is worst that the three that are in the team combined have scored 146 goals between the three of them, Salah, Mane and Firmino.

“So he went there to get some game time and sadly it just hasn’t worked out and If I was Dominic I’d be looking to do what he did at Chelsea or go out on loan somewhere and get some games, he played well for England didn’t he?”

OPINION

Solanke was handed opportunity after opportunity by Jurgen Klopp last season and failed to seize the majority of them. As a result the young forward hasn’t made a single appearance for the first-team and is becoming the forgotten man at Anfield by all accounts. Given the fact Solanke only managed one goal and one assist in the 27-years-old outings he made for the Reds, then perhaps his confidence about being able to deliver the goods for the Merseyside giants has taken a knock. Therefore it makes sense by all accounts why Quinn is urging the 21-year-old to get himself a temporary exit as that does seem like the best way of getting his career back on track. The Reds won’t want to lose Solanke on a permanent basis as he clearly has the potential to be a success at Anfield, he just needs to start showing it more. If the young forward was on loan at a prominent club for the second half of the season and did well, Klopp would soon hand him playing time upon his return.
