John Motson has predicted Watford to defeat Liverpool 2-1 when the sides meet at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

The legendary commentator said that he was going for a bit of gamble with his prediction for the Reds’ clash with the Hornets and backed Jurgen Klopp’s team unbeaten start in the league to end.

Motson claimed that he thought the Reds’ match at Vicarage Road could be one of the games of the weekend and even shared he’d be in attendance as a result.

“Well for me one of the games of the weekend is the one I’m going to, Watford versus Liverpool and I was there last year, I think it was the first day of the season actually and it was a 3-3 draw and a game wouldn’t like that wouldn’t surprise me tomorrow,” said Motson on talkSPORT (Friday, November 23, 14:51).

“Both sides have got goals in them and both sides are playing quite well, Watford are playing really well really and they’re at home.

“Liverpool are still unbeaten and I’m going to go for a little bit of a gamble here and go Watford 2, Liverpool 1.”

OPINION

Motson has been very bold by predicting a Watford win on Saturday as the Reds haven’t tasted defeat in the league as of yet. While the Hornets have defied expectations by flying high in the table as it stands, their form has been very inconsistent to say the least. Watford may have had some impressive results but then they also lost to a Newcastle side who were at the time struggling to find any sort of form in front of goal. So it is a very big prediction by Motson to suggest that the Reds are set for their first defeat. However given that at times Klopp’s side have struggled to deliver the performances they are capable of, despite picking up results, then maybe the Hornets do have a chance of causing an upset. Klopp needs to ensure all his players are on top form to keep their bid the Premier League title looking strong, and may need to take strong action during the game if things aren’t going to plan.
