When players go away on international duty, the one thing that club managers undoubtedly fear the most is their star talents getting injured.

However, that is not the case with Liverpool – in fact, Jurgen Klopp’s number one concern should be who he picks to face Watford in the Premier League this Saturday.

The German now has a major selection headache on his heads, especially after the exploits of midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri for Switzerland on Sunday evening.

The summer signing may not have got on the scoresheet, but anyone who witnessed the game will tell you that he played a crucial role in the stunning 5-2 victory over Belgium in the UEFA Nations League.

He provided the cross to teammate Nico Elvedi that allowed him to put the Swiss in front for the first time in the match, but the threat he caused in the final third catapulted him to the status of being the best player on the pitch.

Goalscorers usually dominate all the glory after such infamous victories, but it is Shaqiri who is receiving the most praise for his performance – and this is why Klopp must start the £90,000-a-week [Spotrac] ace against the Hornets this weekend.

The midfield at Liverpool is jam packed with talent as it is, but Shaqiri has just made life that little bit more difficult for Klopp, who must decide who he will drop for this clash.

Does he drop the ever reliable James Milner? Or will Gini Wijnaldum get the axe? Who knows.

One thing is for sure though, Shaqiri will blow the Hornets away on Saturday if his Switzerland performance is anything to go by, so Klopp would essentially be mad not to include him in the starting XI.
