Jurgen Klopp has clearly implemented Liverpool squarely in Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s head as the Spanish manager revealed he couldn’t read a book as he’d just end up reading about the Reds.

Guardiola shared this interesting titbit while giving a lecture at the University of Liverpool on Wednesday afternoon, which was transcribed by Manchester Evening News as well as Twitter account GuardiolaTweets, and his remarks on whether he reads were very telling.

“I love reading but I don’t read,” shared the Man City boss.

“I start to read and then I think Liverpool, Klopp and I can’t focus.

“People say I read books. I don’t read books. I have a nice library and sooner or later I will read them but I don’t have the time.

“But when you read poetry you feel better”

The fact Guardiola felt the need to mention Klopp in a question that had nothing to do with him is one thing but for him to admit that he can’t enjoy the simple pleasure of reading without his mind being drawn to the Reds shows so much.

The Man City boss’ priority is clearly to bring as much silverware to the Etihad stadium this season and if the Reds are crossing his mind as much as his remarks above imply, then the Merseyside giants are clearly in his head.

There are also likely to be causing him to fret in order for him to think about them as he no doubt worrying about them potentially blocking his road to success this season.

Both Manchester City and the Reds have been in fantastic form this season and the pair, particularly where the Premier League title is concerned, are each other biggest threat.

Given that Guardiola didn’t have much to worry about last season in the league as his side stormed to the title, his latest remarks conclusively prove the strides the Reds have made over the summer in order to potentially give the Spaniard sleepless nights.
