Many Liverpool fans took to social media in order to criticised Daniel Sturridge for his performance in the first half of the clash with Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night.

The Reds went into the half-time break 2-0 down and a large section of supporters of Jurgen Klopp’s side were fuming with the English forward for his efforts in the opening 45 minutes.

One fan tweeted that Sturridge’s miss was looking very very costly for their side while another claimed the 29-year-old was stealing a living.

COMMENTARY

Sturridge had a golden chance to put the Reds 1-0 up and failed to take it. It was an awful miss and if he had buried it then perhaps the first half would have gone very differently for his side. After missing the opportunity to score which was gifted to him by Sadio Mane, Sturridge really struggled to have any form of a positive impact. This was the case even thought the experienced forward kept finding himself with the ball at his feet. The attacker would show glimpses of his dribbling ability but his finishing was poor beyond belief. Hopefully the attacker gets his act together in the second half as the Reds ideally need to get at least a draw against the Serbian giants. Sturridge is a clinical finisher, just see his track record, so he is capable of helping the Reds turn this game round. However based on his efforts so far, he seriously needs to up his game in order for that to be the case.
