Michael Owen has predicted that Liverpool will maintain their unbeaten run in the Premier League with yet another win against Burnley on Wednesday.

The two sides meet at Turf Moor in this midweek clash, and the ex-England international shared the fact that the Reds have only conceded just five times in all of their 14 league games so far.

He said that he would be very surprised if the Clarets managed to get any sort of result against Liverpool on their home turf, despite the fact that Jurgen Klopp’s team only won on Sunday thanks to a stoppage time goal from Divock Origi.

“Liverpool have conceded just five times in their 14 PL games so far this term and their dramatic late winner in the Merseyside derby on Sunday kept them within hailing distance of City at the top of the table,” he said in his BetVictor blog.

“Burnley have conceded 12 times in their six league games at Turf Moor so far this term and I would be surprised if they got anything from the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.”

OPINION

The record that Owen has pointed out here may just prove to be the deciding factor in their fixture with Burnley. Only managing to concede five times in 14 matches is seriously impressive, and to be quite honest, Burnley are not going to change that record any time soon if you take a look at their recent form. They have been dismal lately so it is hard to see them getting a result against Liverpool, just like Owen pointed out. Yes, Liverpool have not been at their best either lately, but they have more than enough quality to blitz past Sean Dyche’s team with absolute ease. This is the perfect chance for the Reds to keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table, even if it means that they grind out a tight result like they have done so many times this season.
