Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno could resurrect his almost lifeless Reds career against Burnley if Andy Robertson sits the clash out due to injury.

Jurgen Klopp has potentially been dealt a blow for the clash with Sean Dyche’s side as he confirmed that Robertson picked up a minor injury against the Toffees and needed to be assessed ahead of Wednesday clash.

The German manager provided an update on the Scottish left-back on Tuesday in order to confirm the player was currently a doubt.

“With Robbo it is not that serious as with Sadio, but we need to have a look,” admitted Klopp, as quoted by the Reds’ official website.

Given that games come thick and fast in the festive period, Klopp probably will lean towards resting Robertson in order to protect him which means that Moreno is likely to start the clash.

The 26-year-old, who earns £40,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), has barely featured this season which is shown by the fact he has made only three appearances so far.

When you consider that his outing in the EFL Cup against Chelsea bordered on being a disaster-class, he looks destined to leave either in January or in the coming summer.

This is especially the case as his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and the club as well as the player both won’t be motivated for a new deal to be agreed as it stands.

This scenario means his Reds career looks almost lifeless but if he wows against Burnley then that may all change.

After all Klopp doesn’t play favourites at Anfield as Moreno was  a regular in last season before Robertson took the opportunity to impress why the Spaniard was out injured.

So there’s no saying that a similar scenario could develop but in reverse and that this could see Moreno stick around longer due to resurrecting his Reds career.

Granted Moreno has to excel and show his best form against Burnley, but that scenario is defiantly able to develop and could be even more likely if Robertson injury is being played down by Klopp.

This all means that given Klopp’s update on Robertson, Moreno could start makes his future at Anfield look brighter by resurrecting his Reds career with an excellent display against Burnley.
