COMMENTARY
Many Liverpool fans took the opportunity to slam ex-player El Hadji Diouf after he claimed he should have joined Manchester United or Barcelona instead of rocking up at Anfield when he did. The 37-year-old, who made 55 appearances for the club between 2002 and 2005, claimed in an interview with French outlet RMC Sport (As Translated and Transcribed by Sky Sports) that the shirt he regretted wearing most in his career was the one he wore for Liverpool and remarkably claimed in hindsight he’d rather have joined Man United or Barcelona. Given his remarks it was no surprise lots of Reds fans shared they wish he had arrived at Old Trafford and played under Alex Ferguson instead too. One fan claimed that Man United midfielder Roy Keane would have smacked him and Alex Ferguson would have given the hairdryer treatment due to not being up to the required standard. This probably would have been the case especially when you consider Diouf only managed three goals for the Reds despite supposedly being an attacking player.
