Jamie Redknapp heaped praise on Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of the Reds taking on Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Sky Sports pundit claimed it was good to see the 27-year-old winger score against Burnley in midweek before sharing he believes Shaqiri is having a really good season.

Redknapp then added that given that Shaqiri was signed from Stoke City for around about £12million, £13million according to BBC Sport, that the player was looking a bargain right now.

“It’s good for him, he’s had a really good season Shaqiri, £12million or whatever he costs, looks a bargain right now,” said Redknapp on Sky Sports’ Premier League (Saturday December 8, 11:37am).

OPINION

Will anyone disagree with Redknapp here? It seems unlikely. Shaqiri has been a breath of fresh air at Anfield this season and has really defied expectations by how much of an impact he has been able to make. The 27-year-old winger has played 16 times across all competitions, including the match with Bournemouth, and has racked up three assists as well as three goals in the process. When you consider his stats and the fact he seemed to be signed in order to provide cover for Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice options, it’s clear he has been a bargain signing. In today’s transfer market £13million won’t get you much so for it to get you a player of Shaqiri’s quality, is quite an achievement. Hopefully the Reds winger is able to keep his form going throughout the season as he could prove to be key in fulfilling the club’s title ambitions, especially as he keeps Klopp’s first-choice attackers on their toes.
