Mark Schwarzer shared that he thought Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah was trying too hard and that against Paris Saint-Germain he kept doing the same every time he had the ball.

The BBC pundit shared his view on the key player for the Reds ahead of the clash with Everton and highlighted the worrying flaw in the 26-year-old’s current game.

“Watching him the other night, I think it was pretty much that as well (playing as an individual/trying too hard),” said Schwarzer on BBC One’s Football Focus (12:57 Saturday December 1st).

“Every time he got the ball, he did the same thing.”

It’s hard to disagree with the pundit’s verdict on Salah’s latest display as the player did see enough of the ball to make a difference, but struggled to make a breakthrough.

It seemed he had one plan in mind and went to execute it despite it continuing to fail.

Salah is far from a one-trick pony so for Schwarzer to rightly highlight this flaw in the player’s latest display should have fans sweating as perhaps frustration is starting to have a negative effect on his game.

The 26-year-old has not had a poor season so far, after all seven goals in 13 league games is impressive, but after setting the bar so high for himself after last season, clearly he has put a lot of pressure on himself not to let his standards drop.

Salah does at times look more selfish than he did last season as he clearly is desperate to get his name on the score sheet and he’s not seeing where he going wrong.

The player is working hard and getting in the right position, but isn’t adapting when things aren’t going his way.

Schwarzer pointed out the flaw during Salah’s PSG display but there has been a few games like that this season.

Given that the attacker’s goal thirst won’t easily be met, Reds fans should be sweating over that the fact that Salah’s performance may not be where they want to be due to his frustration causing him not to see what’s in front of him.

Also after finding his winning formula last season, perhaps he’s scared to try new things in games as if they don’t work out, then people will say that usually he does like this and has success.

Therefore Schwarzer has pinpointed a worrying flaw in Salah’s current game and fans should be sweating as it’s not the easiest one to mask.
