Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones is attracting interest from the German Bundesliga as the heat rises over English talents being targeted for moves abroad, according to a report from the Independent.

The newspaper claims that the 17-year-old is one of numerous young English players that teams in Germany are tracking as they look to find the next Jadon Sancho.

The England international has emerged as a superstar since joining German giants Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City 18 months ago.

Jones is just one of the Premier League names receiving admiring glances from Germany, with West Ham United’s Reece Oxford and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood also mentioned.

OPINION

Young English footballers are all the rage in Germany at the moment, so it makes sense that there are clubs over there looking at a player of Jones’ quality. The success of not just Sancho in Germany, but also Ademola Lookman, David Bates and Oxford, is driving Bundesliga teams to search more and more rigorously for the next great English talent. Sancho’s was a unique situation, though. Everyone was aware of how talented he was, and that’s why City fought so hard to keep him. Ultimately, though, he preferred the regular football on offer in the Bundesliga and it’s worked out well for him. It’s hard to say that any of the youngster’s on the Independent’s list will blossom in the way that Sancho has if they move abroad. The Bundesliga won’t be for everyone. That’s what Jurgen Klopp and co. will be telling Jones, and hopefully he listens because his future is clearly at Anfield.
