Barry Ferguson has claimed that he would give Rangers a “handshake” if they ever completed a swoop for Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana.

Former Ibrox star says that the 30-year-old has the ability and knack to score goals regularly, and said that if the Gers managed to seal a swoop for him, his former club would have a great chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title this year.

He added with the quality that Liverpool’s front three – which consists of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino – it is be difficult for the ex-Southampton star to even get a look-in.

“Adam Lallana is a top, top player and if Rangers get him they’ve got an even better chance of snatching the title away from Celtic,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer.

“The guy is genuine quality. I’ve watched him long enough in a Liverpool jersey. The guy has fantastic ability, he can score goals and he’s an England international.

“If Rangers pull that off I will need to give them a handshake.”

OPINION

Ferguson is right – Lallana would be a fantastic addition to Rangers if they managed to sign him. Despite the fact that he has not been a regular in the team this season – he has just six Premier League appearances to his name – the Gers would greatly improve with him in the side, and there is no doubt he would have been a formidable force alongside their recent signing Jermain Defoe. His talent is being wasted with the Reds due to the formidable force of their front three, and it would definitely be put to good use at a club like Rangers. They are desperate to snatch the title away from Celtic this year, so what better way to do that by signing someone who has been an England international? Lallana’s progress has somewhat stalled in recent times – injury has not helped his case – but that would be a thing of the past if he made the move up to Scotland.
