OPINION
It was a bit of an up and down first half for Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane against Manchester City on Thursday night. The Senegal star seemed to be involved, for good or bad, from very early on at the Etihad Stadium. In the opening stages the former Southampton man looked pretty lackadaisical, which is probably why he received so much criticism from his club’s fans. He’s so unpredictable and at times he does look like he doesn’t know what he’s doing out there. His touch can be poor and there’s no doubt that when he’s not on his game he is an incredibly frustrating player. However, he also showed in the first half against City that he has the potential to break games open. He hit the post after about 20 minutes, which almost led to the Reds opening the scoring. He beat Ederson but somehow the ball didn’t end up crossing the line. He can make the difference in games but he can also frustrate beyond measure, that’s what you get with Mane.
