Jurgen Klopp may not be particuarly focused on Liverpool incomings this month, but he needs to take a look at the potential outgoings as soon as possible.

One player he must turn his attention to is Lazar Markovic – the player fans last saw in action for the Reds in 2015, but still remains on the books at Anfield.

With his £35,000-a-week [Spotrac] wage, Markovic will prove tough to offload, but the Reds are going to find it even harder to get rid of if they just hold out for a permanent move.

If anything, the 24-year-old has not really been provided with the opportunity to really showcase what he can do, but that does not matter, as it looks like his days on Merseyside are numbered.

Liverpool must sanction a loan exit for the Serbian winger, as not only will it allow them to get Markovic off the books for the time being, but it will also give him the game time he needs to ensure that his career does not go down the drain.

At the age of 24, Markovic needs to be playing regularly for a first team – not relegated to the under-23s section just because he is unfavoured.

The option to take him on loan may be viewed favourably by prospective clubs, because if his spell does not go according to plan – i.e. if he does not perform well – there is always the option to send him back in the next window.

Many clubs will not be keen on bringing a player in who has practically zero first team experience, which is why Liverpool must sanction a temporary exit for the frozen-out player instead.

It is just what he needs to salvage his career – if not, his career will just go down the pan.
